"Praxis Core Academic Skills (replaced Praxis I) and Praxis II

The Praxis is a two-part standardized test administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Praxis® Core Academic Skills for Educators (Core) Tests measure academic skills in reading, writing and mathematics. These tests were designed to provide comprehensive assessments that measure the skills and content knowledge of candidates entering teacher preparation programs. All candidates need to pass each and every one of the Core tests to be eligible for licensure. Passing scores are as follows: Reading (5712)-156, Writing (5722)-162 and Math (5732)- 150.

Praxis II® Subject Assessments measure knowledge of specific subjects that K–12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge.

For example, if you are an Elementary Education or Multidisciplinary Studies student you will be required to take the Praxis II Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects test. A Secondary Mathematics student must take the Praxis II Mathematics test. The required scores for the Praxis II are varied depending on which test is taken.

All education students need to pass the Praxis Core test, prior to registering for Inquiry II. All Castleton education students are expected to have passed both Praxis Core and Praxis II prior to their final semester/graduation in order to receive recommendation for licensure from the Education Department at Castleton College."
