Calvin Coolidge Library

Did you know you can get a guest borrower card and check out books? Stop in to read newspapers and magazines. Spend time in our Vermont room! There is so much to explore in the library.

Casella Theater

Seating just under 500 patrons, it is host to many productions, concerts, and special events each season including our innovative Essential Artists Series. Our departments of Music and Theater Arts produce over 20 events in the theater each academic season and enjoy a tremendous regional reputation for the quality of their work. Some productions are free, and most are open to the public. Get your tickets now!

Athletic Events

Castleton has 29 varsity sports, and continues to be a perennial contender in the New England region and beyond. Over the past three years ten different Castleton teams have competed on the national stage. Each season brings exciting competition.


Our store is open for your shopping convenience, selling Castleton gear, school supplies and more. It’s located in the Campus Center, and hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. most of the year. While in the Campus Center, take time for a bite to eat at the Fireside Lounge, open most of the year from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. You’ll also find Spartan Gear at the Pro Shop at Spartan Arena in Rutland.


The six-lane swimming pool in the Spartan Athletic Complex is open to the public for a small fee. Check the schedule each semester for open swim and class schedules. Lighted tennis courts are located behind the Facilities Building off South Street, and in winter the Pavilion is open for ice skating. There are walking and jogging trails around campus, all are free. The Spartan Arena in Rutland offers ice-skating, a fitness center, and various events throughout the year.


Our facilities are available to rent. Our experienced staff in the Conferences and Events office will assist you with all aspects of your event. Whether 10 people or 1,000, Castleton can accommodate your events.
