AHS 2152: Evaluation & Management Of Injuries: Upper Extremity: Assignment Directions

Research Paper Directions

The topic of your research paper should be any orthopedic or related injury/illness to the upper extremity that could occur in a sport setting.

The paper should begin with a review of the relevant anatomy and physiology at the injury site.

The majority of the text should be concerned with the mechanism of injury, possible predisposing factors (i.e. structural or functional abnormality, previous injury, etc.), clinical findings included in a thorough evaluation, initial management, and treatment.

A discussion of evaluative and diagnostic tests should also be covered.  Include possible complications and any other important information that is relevant to this injury.

You will add much depth to a thoroughly written research paper if you incorporate such things as case studies, injury statistics, and/or other types of research studies relating to your topic.
